Memorial and Tribute Gifts
A gift to WCFS is a distinct way to honor or remember a special person or event. A thank-you note will be sent to the individual or family you have honored; the amount of the gift will not be disclosed.

If you are age 70½ or older, you may make a qualified charitable distribution (QCD) directly from your IRA to WCFS. A QCD can satisfy part or all of your required minimum distribution (RMD) once you reach RMD age, and it may reduce your taxable income. To qualify, the gift must be transferred directly from your IRA to WCFS. See this Sample transfer letter for more information.

If you have a donor‑advised fund, you can recommend a grant to WCFS at any time. DAF gifts are simple and flexible, allowing you to support WCFS through a giving vehicle you already use. When making a recommendation, please designate West Chester Friends School and include our Tax ID: 23‑1690347.

Businesses, corporations, and individuals can support WCFS through Pennsylvania’s Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) and Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credit (OSTC) programs. WCFS is an approved scholarship organization, and eligible donors may direct support to our school and receive a state tax credit of up to 90% of their contribution. Many individuals participate through The Friends Collaborative, which helps donors navigate the process and maximize their impact.

A gift of stock can be a particularly good giving vehicle, especially if you have owned the stock for at least one year. If you sell the stock, you will pay a capital gains tax on any increase in its value. By giving stock to West Chester Friends School, you will avoid the capital gains tax, and you may be able to claim a tax deduction. 

WCFS works with Friends Fiduciary to transfer gifts of stock. See this Sample Transfer Letter that you can use to notify your broker. Then complete this Stock Gift Information Form for Friends Fiduciary. Email the completed form to:

Planned gifts can take many forms and may offer tax benefits while reflecting your values and long‑term intentions. The 1836 Society
The 1836 Society honors those who have included West Chester Friends School in their estate plans. Individuals in The 1836 Society have notified WCFS that the school is named in their will or designated as a beneficiary of a retirement plan or life insurance policy. These legacy gifts help ensure that WCFS continues to thrive for generations to come.

Estate Gifts (Bequests)
One of the easiest ways to make a planned gift is through your will or revocable living trust. You may designate WCFS as the beneficiary of specific assets, a percentage of your estate, or the remainder of your estate after payment of other bequests. Bequests are free from federal estate tax. 

To include West Chester Friends School in your will or estate plans, please use this language: “West Chester Friends School, a nonprofit corporation, organized and existing under the laws of Pennsylvania, and with the business address of 415 North High Street, West Chester, Pennsylvania 19380. The tax identification number is 23-1690347”

Retirement Plans
You can name West Chester Friends School as a beneficiary of your IRA, 401(k), 403(b), Keogh Plan, or other qualified retirement plan. WCFS may receive part or all of the remaining balance. These gifts pass outside of probate and are free from federal estate tax, making them a tax‑efficient way to support the school.

Life Insurance
WCFS can be named as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy. Like retirement plan gifts, life insurance proceeds are distributed outside probate and are free from federal estate tax.

The WCFS Endowment Fund provides long‑term financial stability for the school by generating annual investment income that supports students, teachers, and programs year after year. Gifts to the endowment help ensure that WCFS can continue offering joyful, child‑centered learning for generations to come. You may contribute directly to the WCFS Endowment Fund, which is held at the Chester County Community Foundation.
