Secret Gardens of West Chester is a beloved community event that invites participants on a self‑guided walking tour of privately owned gardens throughout the Borough. Each year, neighbors open their gates to share the creativity, beauty, and inspiration found in their outdoor spaces. The event also features a plant sale on the WCFS campus, where guests can shop for new additions to their own gardens. Proceeds support educational programming, including outdoor education, at West Chester Friends School.

Location: Northwest Quadrant of the Borough
Garden Tour Hours: 10:00 am–2:00 pm
Plant Sale Hours: 10:00 am–3:00 pm
Garden Tour Admission
$25 per person until Friday, September 11, at noon
$30 per person on September 12, beginning at 10:00 am
Admission is available for purchase online HERE until noon on Friday, September 11. Admission may also be purchased on the day of the event at West Chester Friends School. Each guest will receive a garden tour map and directions via email.
About the Event
Last year’s tour welcomed more than 300 attendees and raised over $12,000 to benefit WCFS. The plant sale on campus was also a resounding success, as all plants were sold. All proceeds from the event support educational programming at WCFS — including our innovative outdoor learning initiative, Forest School Fridays.
Forest School Fridays bring students in kindergarten through fifth grade to local preserves and parks each week for hands‑on learning and exploration. Rain or shine, students venture off campus to study local ecosystems, build confidence, and deepen their connection to the natural world.
