Play School–Kindergarten
A Strong and Joyful Entry Into School
Play School, Pre-kindergarten, and Kindergarten at WCFS offer a strong and joyful entry into school. Pre-primary faculty understand the innate curiosity and enthusiasm of young children and teach a curriculum that is both academic and play-based, accommodating the evolving pace and style of their learning throughout the year.
The Play School day is filled with hands-on experiences that invite children to explore, create, move, and discover. Play School days include lots of outdoor play,literature, art and music, library time, soccer, yoga, and engaging classroom science projects and "field trips" to the lab.
Pre-kindergarten and Kindergarten students enjoy:

- gardening in the raised beds.
Kindergarten students travel to natural settings each week for Forest Fridays. Studio art, author studies, and thematic, interdisciplinary units of study are also integral components of the curriculum.
Individual emergent reading and math skills are supported and developed in Pre-kindergarten and Kindergarten. Social growth, too, is fostered as children work together both informally and on structured projects, in the classroom and in the school community. The pre-primary curriculum is a solid foundation for learning at the elementary level.
