West Chester Friends School

Head of School Bio

Matthew H. Bradley became the Head of West Chester Friends School in 2001.  He holds a Master of Arts in Curriculum and Teaching from Teachers College, Columbia University, and a Bachelor of Arts in American Studies from the University of Notre Dame.

Prior to his arrival in West Chester, Matt was a teacher and administrator in the lower and middle schools at Friends Academy, a PS-12 Quaker school on Long Island, NY.  He continues to be in the classroom on a daily basis, as he teaches a section of math in the upper grades.  This is Matt's 24th year in Friends education.

Matt serves on the Board of Directors of the Friends Council on Education (FCE) and the Quaker Inner City School Endowment Fund, and is a member of the Community Philanthropic Committee of the Rotary Club of West Chester.  He previously served as a Director of the Association of Delaware Valley Independent Schools (ADVIS) and a Trustee of Friends School Mullica Hill.

Melinda Wenner Bradley teaches history and Quakerism and is the 6th grade dean at Westtown School.  She is also active in religious education at West Chester Monthly Meeting and Philadelphia Yearly Meeting.  Matt and Melinda have three children - currently in the fifth and second grades and pre-kindergarten class at WCFS - and live in Glen Mills.
